The Nasty Man

Firstly, apologies to those who were expecting a Shark Knight Rises story this week. This thing happened, and then this other thing happened…and then I forgot. Oops.

You’ve got a drabble instead, though…

The Nasty Man

Jennifer slumps down on the end of her charge’s bed. “You know why I got cross earlier, don’t you?”

Katie, already safe under her covers, shrugs.

“You can’t just go wandering off like that.”

Katie sinks deeper, two little eyes all that remain top-side.

“Any nasty man could have taken you away, you know that?”

Katie smiles.

“It’s not-”

The room’s shadows quickly merge, seeping forward with shape and substance, black arms dragging Jennifer back into a hungry abyss. She screams, but Katie hears nothing.

Then, silence.

“There’s only one nasty man,” Katie whispers, “and he seems to quite like me.”

  1. Thanks for all the comments, guys. Have been a bit slack catching up this weekend (school has just finished) but I appreciate you all taking the time to read. Thanks!
